British luxury brand Mulberry has launched its first carbon-neutral clothing line as it continues its promise to be a net-zero company by 2035. Called the Lily Zero line, the collection is made up of 12 styles that are fully carbon-neutral. The pieces are made from carbon-neutral leather from a tannery in Germany and manufactured in the company’s Somerset factory, which measures, reduces and offsets its carbon emissions. Mulberry’s autumn-winter 2022 collection will also use this leather, making a quarter of that line carbon-neutral, too. Mulberry recently committed itself to becoming fully sustainable by 2035 in a bid to appeal to eco-conscious young consumers. YPulse’s recent WE sustainability research found that the majority of young Europeans have changed some behavior to help fight climate change, including shopping secondhand and seeking more sustainable brands, leading many fashion brands—and especially luxury brands—to make moves towards becoming more sustainable.
