Brands are celebrating Earth Day with awareness campaigns, sustainable clothing initiatives, and more.

Apr 22 2022

Brands are celebrating Earth Day with awareness campaigns, sustainable clothing initiatives, and more. Today (April 22) marks Earth Day, and brands are showing their support for the environment in a variety of ways, from introducing resale programs to highlighting their commitments to sustainability. Coca-Cola created an animated film starring Bill Nye to “demystify” the plastic recycling process, which builds on its recent recycling initiative to recycle all beverage bottles and cans from the NCAA’s Women’s and Men’s Final Four games to be used as new packaging; Amazon is donating $1 million to One Tree Planted to plant one million trees through the end of 2022, and during April, Alexa owners can tell Alexa to “grow a tree” to donate $1 to the organization; food tech startup Just Egg is calling out lawmakers for their lack of action regarding climate change; the U.K.’s largest pharmacy chain, Boots, announced it will stop selling wet wipes containing plastic by the end of 2022; U.S. grocer Wegmans says it will eliminate plastic bags at its stores by the end of the year; and Apple is offering an immersive AR experience via Snapchat to show how its making its operations more sustainable while donating $1 to the World Wildlife Fund for every Apple store purchase made until April 22. YPulse’s sustainability research shows 73% of young consumers say brands should be talking about climate change, and Earth Day / Earth Month is something brands should have on their radar not just for marketing purposes, but to help educate consumers and commit to real change.
