Working Millennial parents are struggling to manage their own kids’ mental health.

Apr 14 2022

Working Millennial parents are struggling to manage their own kids’ mental health. YPulse’s mental health research found that more than half of Millennial parents say their mental health has been negatively impacted by the pandemic, and their own children’s mental health is having an impact on them as well. A Nationwide Children’s Hospital survey found that more than half of working parents say they have missed work at least once per month and / or took days off work to deal with their child’s mental health. Between 30-50% of parents also say they were distracted at work by thoughts of their kid’s mental health and well-being. While parenting apps like Milo and blogs like Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs have been finding ways to support parents’ mental health, experts suggest that employers can help out working parents by expanding employee benefits, such as mental health resources, care delivery, and sick leave.
