A new collection of Dr. Seuss books featuring diverse and inclusive characters is in the works. One year after announcing that Dr. Seuss Enterprises would stop publishing six titles that feature racist / insensitive images, the company announced it’s working with an inclusive group of up-and-coming authors and artists to produce original stories inspired by previously unpublished illustrations from Dr. Seuss’ archives. The books are aimed at kids four-to-eight-years-old, and the new authors and illustrators will work to represent a diverse mix of racial backgrounds to ensure readers are accurately represented. The first round of books are set to hit shelves next year, with two new books dropping per year. YPulse’s Representation in Action trend research shows 43% of Millennial parents say it’s important for the children’s entertainment / toy industry to reflect diversity and be inclusive. (AP News)
