Netflix released a first look at its highly anticipated three-part documentary about Kanye West. YPulse research found that Kanye West is one of young people’s favorite music artists and a top celeb they want brands to collaborate with. Intimate, tell-all documentaries are a way that musicians are reaching young fans—and Netflix recently released the trailer for jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, which chronicles the last 20 years of the rapper’s life and career. The streaming service is working with Iconic Events Releasing to come up with special limited events for fans and moviegoers. While the first part of the “landmark documentary” is debuting during the (virtual) Sundance Film Festival this month, it will premiere in theaters and on the streaming platform, with an elaborate weekly roll out starting in mid-February. According to Iconic Events Releasing CEO Steve Bunnell: “Few artists or businessmen have had a greater impact on worldwide popular culture than Kanye West over the last twenty years. His musical brilliance is unmistakable and undeniable—he has become a magnet for so much that bears his influence.” (Collider, Rolling Stone)
