Young holiday shoppers are social media channel-hopping to find gift inspiration. YPulse’s holiday shopping plans research shows that 51% of Gen Z and 39% of Millennial holiday shoppers get gift ideas for others on social media, and according to Study Finds, Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, and livestream shopping on Facebook will be popular platforms this year among Gen Z holiday shoppers. Young consumers are shopping earlier to avoid product shortages, and McKinsey’s 2021 holiday survey reports 57% of holiday shoppers say YouTube is a platform that has influenced their buying decision. PayPal and payment services from online banks are becoming more popular among young holiday shoppers, too, and our research found that 49% of 13-39-year-olds say they’ll be using pay-in-installment services to fund holiday purchases.
