Millennial moms are struggling to return to the workplace, and some brands are increasing childcare to ease their reentry. According to Census Bureau data, 3.5 million moms with school-age children lost their jobs, took leave, or left the labor market due to COVID, and YPulse data shows that 35% of Millennial moms who left their jobs in the last year did so to become a stay at home parent. With COVID still a threat and returning to school feeling shaky, many aren’t sure they can reenter the workplace. In the face of this crisis, some brands are creating new programs aimed at returning moms. Amazon’s “returnship,” for example, will choose 1,000 professionals who have been un- or under-employed for at least a year to engage in temp- to full-time work. Goldman Sachs is another major company offering returnships, and the number of Fortune 500s doing so continues to grow. (WSJ)
