Volvo has reportedly committed to make all of its fully electric models leather-free by 2030. The auto maker recently announced plans to make all of its fully electric models completely leather-free by 2030, along with more eco-friendly efforts including using 100% renewable energy by 2025, making 25% of the materials used in Volvo models out of recycled and “bio-based content,” and working toward a fully circular business where Volvo materials are continually reused by 2040. Volvo’s C40 Recharge (expected to come to the U.S. by the end of this year) will be the auto maker’s first leather-free model. YPulse’s Driving Forward trend research shows that Gen Z drivers are ushering in an era of eco-friendliness, and 80% of 13-17-year-olds and 79% of 18-24-year-olds say electric, chargeable cars are the future.
