Designers are highlighting “loose and stretchy” fashion at this year’s NY Fashion Week. YPulse’s fashion and style research found that 83% of young people say comfort is their number one priority in what they wear, and top brands and designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Renee Bishop are leaning into comfortable fashion, saying that “comfort is key” while creating clothing that doubles as casual and going out wear. Hilfiger notes that “comfort with stretch and softness is sporty chic and so relevant now,” and designers including Frederick Anderson and Renee Bishop are debuting lines at this year’s NY fashion week that embrace comfort with a heavy emphasis on knitwear pieces, wide-leg pants/looser fitting shorts, and versatile jackets made with fewer buttons (plus ones that unzip and double as a blouse). Tommy Hilfiger is also leaning into bright colors and gender-fluid fashion for its new fall collection with Romeo HUNTE, featuring oversized shirts and shorts in vibrant colors, a trench coat that transforms into a short jacket, and a striped shirt that can be cinched at the waist.
