America is becoming less White and “more diverse and more multiracial than ever.”

Aug 17 2021

America is becoming less White and “more diverse and more multiracial than ever.” According to new Census data, the U.S. is “more diverse and more multiracial than ever before,” with people of color representing 43% of the total population in 2020—up from 34% in 2010. Those who identified as Hispanic or Latino or as multiracial grew the most. Meanwhile, the non-Hispanic White population fell to 57% in 2020—shrinking by 6% since 2010. While the under 18 population decreased during the last decade, it is “rapidly diversifying:” Non-White residents in the U.S. younger than 18-years-old make up 53%—up from 47% in 2010. YPulse’s Representation in Action trend research reported that Gen Z and Millennials are the most diverse generations in history, making inclusion not a “nice to have” but a necessity for brands who want to reach them.
