Dating app BLK partnered with Juvenile to remix his ‘90s hit song into “Vax That Thang Up” as a way to encourage young Black singles to get vaccinated. It’s no secret that brands have been taking advantage of the endless ‘90s revival, and Black dating app BLK is the latest to do so by teaming up with rapper Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, and X for a music video that remixes his 1999 hit single “Back That Thang Up” to make it a vaccination anthem. Along with the title, many of the lyrics in the track were changed to reflect the pandemic and encourage listeners to get their shot. YPulse’s Finding Love Post-COVID trend report found that 39% of 13-39-year-old BIPOC consumers said there has to be a vaccine for COVID-19 before they feel comfortable dating in-person again, and BLK is the latest dating app to encourage and target a more diverse demographic.
