TikTok could be Gen Z’s LinkedIn. By now you’ve likely heard that TikTok is testing new features that will allow companies to recruit employees on the platform. Not only is TikTok full of career advice and tips for how to start a side hustle, Gen Z and Millennials have been using the app to learn more about specific brands/companies they’re interested in working for. Intuit Canada is one company that is informally recruiting on TikTok, and their senior recruiter (@emily.the.recruiter) has built a strong following on the app from her videos offering resume and interview tips. One candidate notes that Emily’s TikTok videos helped her facilitate a deeper connection with Intuit because they offered a deeper glimpse into the company culture, something that’s not as easy to discover on Glassdoor and LinkedIn. YPulse’s latest employment and career goals data shows that 78% of Gen Z considers having a job they enjoy doing as very important to their future career, and TikTok is helping young workers understand how they may fit into a company’s core. Meredith Corporation, Shopify, Boston Scientific, Alo Yoga, Chipotle, and the NBA are among the select group of companies who will soon be able to post job openings and collect resumes on an in-app webpage.
