A new storytelling platform is letting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ creators share their stories. Prior to the pandemic, Women’s March co-founder Paola Mendoza launched The Meteor to amplify the creative work of BIPOC women, LGTBQ+, and other underrepresented groups—and it became especially relevant during a year when racial inequity was being brought to light. Through the platform, creators can share their stories across the medium of their choice, from journalism to photography and even live events. It also includes resources on how readers can become more involved in the issues being addressed. So far, they’ve hosted virtual summits like the 21 for ‘21, which featured “21 visions for a feminist future.” According to Mendoza: “Each person that comes into The Meteor space has this idea that the stories of women, non-binary people of various races and backgrounds, and able-bodied and disabled bodies haven’t been told in the ways that they should, which are in truth and dignity, with love, with courage, with respect.” (Global Citizen)
