Young people not only prefer genderless fashion, they’re demanding it. Lil Nas X, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and more pop culture icons are paving the way for agender fashion through their fluid, gender-bending styles. After Kid Cudi performed on Saturday Night Live wearing an Off-White sundress, searches for floral dresses grew 21% in a mere 24 hours and searches for Off-White dresses increased 67%. Harry Styles sporting Gucci boas and a handbag garnered a similar response, resulting in a 1500% increase in searches for his retro look. Less than half of female-identifying Gen Zs (45%) say they primarily wear clothes designed for women compared to 69% of all female respondents in a report from Bigeye, and brands are listening to their fashion cues. Pacsun, Nordstrom, and more brands have created gender-neutral lines, making genderless fashion increasingly mainstream. (Sourcing Journal, InStyle)
