General Mills auctioned off NFTs to commemorate the return of Chocolate Dunkaroos.

May 03 2021

General Mills auctioned off NFTs to commemorate the return of Chocolate Dunkaroos. YPulse told you all about the hype around non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and more brands are finding creative ways to tap into the crypto-art trend. General Mills is celebrating the return of their (throwback) Chocolate Dunkaroos with their own NFTs—or as they like to call them “new frosting tokens”—and is auctioning off 10 original digital artworks inspired by the ‘90s. As many Millennials can attest, the scarcity of Chocolate Dunkaroos is real, which is exactly why the brand wanted to use NFTs, which are also built on scarcity, to drive interest with young consumers. The highest bidders will be the first to indulge in the Chocolate Dunkaroos before they’re sold in stores. General Mills’ effort is part of their mission to “focus on digital and build brands with purpose,” and profits from the auction will be donated to the nonprofit network for food banks.
