Young people want to eat more fat. According to a New Nutrition Business study, fat is back, with a third of consumers between 18-44-year-olds saying they want “to eat more of it” compared to only 23% of 55-64-year-olds. The findings also show that “a near-equal proportion of shoppers” agree that “fat is not bad” (9%) as agree “all fat is bad” (8%). As young consumers are “embracing more fats in their diets,” companies like General Mills are catering to that demand. They launched a crème fraîche product through their Oui brand, while the brand Love Good Fats just received millions in funding to expand its reach. Old-fashion butter has also reportedly seen a surge in demand. (Food Dive)
