The COVID era could push contactless payments into the mainstream. Because of COVID-19, many retailers are making their customers’ health and wellbeing a priority by stepping up their sanitization regimens and limiting their locations’ in-store capacities. One measure that hasn’t reached “peak usage” yet is contactless payments. But according to a report from Ingenico Group and Freedom Pay, 75% of Millennials and 70% of Gen Z shoppers are satisfied with contactless payments, with the latter group saying that they are a “must have” option for merchants. While it’s still “unclear” just how much contactless payments are gaining favor among customers in general, it’s a concept that is being weighed as lockdowns begin to lift. (Mobile Marketer)
