Young travelers are going on fewer vacations, but road trips are having a moment—and that could be beneficial for outdoor brands. Due to COVID, many young consumers are bypassing planes, trains, and boats, and instead hitting the roads (thanks to cheaper gas prices) to go to campgrounds, and beaches for their summer getaways. This could pay off outdoor brands: Camper and motorhome company RVShare saw a 650% increase in summer bookings, and bookings were up 1000% by mid-May. Camping World Holdings saw its stock price jump 35% after releasing Q1 results that showed how customers are driven by a “desire to vacation while maintaining social distance.” Meanwhile, Traeger has experienced an increase in demand for its portable grills.
