Young consumers are stocking up on puzzles while in quarantine. While some people are stockpiling dry goods and toilet paper, others are turning to jigsaw puzzles as a way to unplug and keep themselves entertained while they self-isolate. Big companies like Amazon are selling out of puzzles, while Missouri-based Puzzle Warehouse has been backordering their sets. On a normal day, the retailer sells 1,000 puzzles, but since the start of the pandemic they have been selling 10,000 per day online. Puzzle giant Ravensburger reports that sales are up 370% in North America. YPulse’s Playtime research found 37% of 13-39-year-olds were playing with puzzles monthly before the pandemic, while our exclusive COVID-19 data shows that 43% say Coronavirus has impacted the things they buy.
