SuperBetter gamifies stress-relieving techniques by creating point-incentivized “quests” and “power-ups,” including deep breathing and exercising, along with “bad guys” like catastrophic thinking that can be defeated for an “epic win.” The app’s not alone in its tech-fueled attempt to help the most stressed generations, but while snackable cognitive behavioral therapy could be helping some, more research is needed to know whether the effect is just a placebo.
