Snapchat selfies are going 3D. A new camera mode will let users of the social platform take pics that appear to pop off their phone, adjusting as they move their screens around by using simple depth perception tricks. The feature comes with a suite of filters, lenses, and effects that can be added to the photo to encourage creative sharing between friends. Snapchat pioneered many of the social media features that have been copied elsewhere (ahem, Instagram), and this 3D effect could start a new trend in the space. (The Verge)
