Instagram is shutting down its Snapchat copycat app, Direct. The little-known app was being tested in several markets, where it took Instagram’s Direct Messaging feature and packaged it as a standalone app for sending both permanent and disappearing pictures and messages (sound familiar?). Now that Facebook is giving up their attempt to win Snapchat-loving teens over to a new app, all user conversations will migrate back to Instagram. (TechCrunch)
