Instagram is developing in-app co-viewing. Code within Instagram’s Direct Messaging feature reveals that Facebook has been prototyping a feature for users to “co-watch content” “Suggested” to them and found in “Playlist[s].” The feature follows in the footsteps of Facebook Watch (and other up-and-comers)—which makes sense since the company has been pushing cross-platform integrations. Considering 62% of teens told us they’re interested in co-viewing, the feature could be a boon, and possibly prop up their lesser-loved YouTube copycat, IGTV. (TechCrunch)
