Smart speaker sales exploded in 2018. According to a survey by NPR and Edison Research, smart speaker ownership grew 78% last year, with an estimated 119 million in circulation in the U.S.—and the holidays may have helped to fuel the growth. They estimate that almost one in ten people got a smart speaker for the holidays, which would mean Generation Voice Activated is growing bigger. (Recode)
