If the sounds of chewing raw veggies sounds soothing, then “extreme crunch” is the ASMR genre for you. Videos of people consuming veggie platters are racking up views on YouTube, where the crunching sounds are meant to induce the tingling sensation autonomous sensory meridian response is known for, trending as young consumers seek escapes from anxiety. Other eating noises have entire genres as well, like “sticky mouth sounds,” which is full of cinnamon rolls and mochi. The trend is similar to the Korean mukbang viral eating sensation, except the diners are notably less chatty. (Quartzy)
