Fewer Gen Z teens are getting summer jobs. Just 35% of teens are in the labor market today compared to 52% in 2000, and the federal government expects that to drop to 31.7% by 2026. When we asked, we had a similar response from 13-17-year-olds, many of whom prioritized spending time with family and friends over working. Some are also preparing for college by taking unpaid internships or summer classes. (NPR)
