Some children don’t have the “strength and dexterity” to hold a pencil, and technology may be to blame. Pediatric doctors are warning that overuse of touchscreen devices in lieu of traditional “muscle-building play” has led to a generation of kids that take longer to learn how to write. Experts advise limiting time with technology and encouraging play that includes building, cutting, sticking, and pulling can help. Children can also go to therapy to tune up their fine motor skills as needed. (The Guardian)
