Glossier, Warby Parker, and Allbirds all made the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s inaugural list of top “direct brands.” These quickly-growing retail up-and-comers are defined by selling self-branded products, having a strong social presence, and focusing heavily on e-commerce. Though some have physical stores, they started out online-only and often re-think brick-and-mortar as a promotional boon rather than a major sales driver.
