Kohl’s is keeping ahead of the retail wasteland with booming in-store sales. While other department stores continue to shutter their stores (think JCPenney and Macy’s), Kohl’s same-store sales went up 6.9% for the 2017 holiday season. Their relative success could be because nine out of ten of Kohl’s stores are not in enclosed malls, which aren’t doing so hot. They also act as free return centers for Amazon products, leading some to think another Amazon acquisition is imminent. (Oh, and Ypulse data also shows that they’re one of Millennials’ and Gen Z’s favorite places to shop for clothes.) (Business Insider)
