Apps did big business on Christmas day, with revenue up by 12% compared to last year, and total daily spend on apps, in apps, and subscriptions reached $196 million—according to worldwide Sensor Tower data (excluding Android sales in China). While gaming purchases made up a bulk of the revenue, non-game apps grew at a faster rate, rising 66% year-over-year compared to gaming apps’ 5.2%. In the non-game category, entertainment app spend grew 98%. (Aligning with Ypulse’s finding that Millennials & Gen Z are using streaming services on smartphones more often.) (TechCrunch)
