Walmart is experimenting with some new concepts, from a personal-shopping service for busy (and affluent) moms to a high-tech cashier-less store. Code Eight is Walmart’s new service for “busy NYC moms” that allows customers to shop via text and have items delivered within two business days. The brand is also working on Project Kepler, a plan for a store that nixes cashiers and adds high-tech shopping solutions, like texting a photo of a product to order it. The store will be similar to Amazon Go, in that consumer activity will be tracked to allow purchases without any checkout lines. (recode)
