Some teens are cyber-bullying themselves online, a kind of “digital self-harm.” About 6% of 12-17-year-olds have sent themselves harmful posts or messages online, according to research from a professor at Florida Atlantic University. In these somewhat rare cases where “the aggressor and target are the same,” self-cyber bullying could be for attention, or a sign of depression. Researchers warn that the behavior could potentially “betray suicidal tendencies and lead to suicidal behavior down the line if it’s not addressed.” (USA Today)
