Violent videos are tricking YouTube’s algorithm and landing in the Kids’ section to gain millions of misplaced views, thanks to channels motivated by ad revenue. An “Elsa shootout video” featuring heavily-armed kids’ characters garnered more than five million views by titling itself as “Bad Kids & Learn Colors Giant Watermelon Finger Family Song Nursery Rhymes | Learning Video For Kids.” Sounds like gibberish, but the title actually has five of the top search phrases used for kids’ content on YouTube—rendering it “algorithm gold.” (Mashable)
