Snapchat is bringing Bitmoji to life in their latest AR update. The personalized cartoon avatars can now be superimposed onto whatever scene users (and their cameras) are seeing (just like the Snapchat dancing hot dog). They can then make the little “digital extension” of themselves skateboard, do yoga, or just get coffee—while sitting back and hitting send. One avatar software firm exec called Bitmoji “the high-water mark for what’s been done to make the avatar experience mainstream”—and clearly augmented reality is becoming more mainstream every day as well.
