Letting teens sleep in could save more than $9 billion a year. A Rand Corporation Study looked at the economic effect of pushing school start times back to 8:30am, and they found that a “small change could result in big economic benefits over a short period of time.” The National Sleep Foundation has found that teens fall asleep later and need to sleep longer, so early school start times likely means very drowsy teens. The improvements in “academic performance, mental and physical health, and public safety” would reportedly lead to an “unprecedented” economic boost. (Teen Vogue)
