Millennials’ love of #RoséAllDay is eating into Champagne’s business. The generation has said “yes way, rosé” so much (there’s even a festival dedicated to it) that the beverage is reportedly growing at an unprecedented rate, with sparkling rosé alone growing 19% year-over-year—more than double that of other sparkling wines. Experts say that the growth is driven by Millennials, who “want to discover something for themselves,” want “affordable luxury,” and are more open than older drinkers to breaking the wine “rules.” Which means they’ll drink rosé all year round instead of just summer and special occasions.
