WhatsApp just joined the billion daily users club, while its “Snapchat clone” hit a cool 250 million. Since Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in 2014, the app has grown from 350 million to over one billion daily active users, who send over 55 billion messages and 4.5 billion photos every day. Snapchat’s success in 2016 triggered Facebook to, essentially, copy them across their own platforms—and now Facebook is ahead. Snapchat has 166 million daily users while Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status each have 250 million of their own. (The Verge, TechCrunch)
