VR may be the tech Millennials think is the coolest on the market, but will it ever go mainstream? Unaffordable, inaccessible, and difficult to maintain, VR consoles are hard to find outside of tech conferences, but several ideas are coming to life to put it in the public’s hands—or heads. The “arcade model,” creating dedicated spaces for people to play with VR outside of their homes, might work, as it did for Atari. Some are also introducing VR arcades to bars in the newest evolution of the “barcade.” Finally, adding VR consoles to multiplexes could be an extra boon to movie theatres. (Co.Design)
