Scotland has turned to Snapchat to recruit young voters. Their upcoming May council elections will be the first time 16-17-year-olds in the country will be eligible to vote, so they’ve launched a geofilter to remind users to register and “know that they can use their voice in these elections.” Young people in Great Britain are “a typically under-registered audience,” with only 69% of 18-34-year-olds registered to vote, compared to 96% of 65 and older. The U.S. took a similar approach last year when Democracy Works' TurboVote teamed up with the platform to run video ads that led to a voter registration page. (Mashable)
