Education startup Newsela is teaching kids not to fall for fake news. The organization, used by over one million American teachers, started out teaching literacy skills to kids through online articles, but has taken on a more “civic-minded role” after the election. In a partnership with the American Press Institute, they’ve added questions like, “Where do the facts come from? Is there a bias?” to their usual article comprehension list. According to the company, children today need someone to show them the way, since their parents are unfamiliar with digital news and how to question its sources. (Business Insider)
