Millennials’ love for classic kicks is giving Adidas a boost. According to NPD Group, the classic footwear category has grown more than 29% in 2016 through October, and the demand has in part been brought on by young consumers’ nostalgia and recent pop culture—like Netflix’s series The Get Down, set in the 1970s. Adidas has sold almost 8 million pairs of their classic Stan Smiths globally, and is reportedly an increasingly preferred brand for 18-34-year-olds as they look for more timeless fashion staples.
