Social media likes light up teens’ brains! Our social media survey revealed that half of 13-33-year-olds say getting likes on social media gives them a rush, and a UCLA study has found that getting those likes activated the reward center in teens’ brains—the same part that responds when something really good happens. The more likes they received, the more activity their reward centers showed. The study also found that high numbers of likes influenced teens to like a photo themselves, showing that they “'react differently to information when they believe it has been endorsed by many or few of their peers, even if these peers are strangers.'” (attn:)
