Facebook is responding to the call for more diverse emojis.

Jun 02 2016

Facebook is responding to the call for more diverse emojis. Following a proposal put forth by a group of Google employees asking for a more diverse set of emojis from the Unicode Consortium, Facebook Messenger is launching 1,500 new emojis today that focus on “diversifying the genders to create a more balanced mix that’s more representative of our world.” The emojis can be customized by skin color, have different hair colors, and include female professionals like police officers, doctors, and more. Ypulse’s Talk the Talk trend revealed that 60% of 13-33-year-olds send emojis once a day or more often. (Digiday
