Vine is dead—at least according to the Wall Street Journal. The once immensely popular app that “took off at an explosive rate” when it first launched, has plummeted from top five in the Apple app store to the 200th spot in the span of a year. According to one New York City high school student: “Vine is kinda irrelevant now because so many new things have come out and Vine hasn’t really updated anything.” Vine’s top video creators agree, opting to post less on the platform and follow the ad dollars to networks like Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook. Our latest social media tracker revealed that 14% of 13-33-year-olds are currently using Vine—a drop from 21% in March 2015. (NYMag)
