Millennials may be delaying parenthood, but it doesn’t mean they don’t want kids. Millennial women have been mostly following the footsteps of Boomers, who redefined the American family when they made the “choice to have fewer children, work outside the home, and raise children as single moms.” Since then the average age of mothers at their first child’s birth has been steadily increasing, with fewer women having babies in their teens and 20s and more women having children in their 30s and 40s. But analysts say “if Millennials follow Generation X's lead, they may eventually have many of the children they skipped early in adulthood.” (Bloomberg)
