Millennials won’t be getting texting-friendly movie theaters anytime soon. At an industry conference last week, AMC entertainment’s new Chief Executive implied that the brand would appeal to younger audiences by letting them use phones during movies, commenting, “You can’t tell a 22-year-old to turn off their cellphone. That’s not how they live their life.” The idea of texting in theatres was met with intense backlash online, prompting a new statement from AMC’s CE assuring, “With your advice in hand, there will be NO TEXTING ALLOWED in any of the auditoriums at AMC Theatres. Not today, nottomorrow, and not in the foreseeable future.” (The Verge, New York Post)
