A record number of Millennials consider themselves working class—more than any other generation over the past three decades. According to a survey conducted every other year, 56.5% of 18-35-year-olds identified as working class in 2014, surpassing the 56.1% of Baby Boomers who said the same in 1982. Only 34% of Millennials identified as middle class, compared to 40% of Gen X’ers and 44% of Boomers. It’s a record low for the generation: in 2002, 45% considered themselves middle class.
