Gatorade is turning their bottles into fitness wearables. The market for fitness wearables is projected to reach $12.44 billion in 2022, as more athletes use them to monitor their diet, heart rate, and training. To keep up, Gatorade has developed a smart-cap that shows real-time hydration data, along with a sweat patch that identifies wearers’ electrolyte and fluid-intake needs via app. Of course, the technology will also suggest one of Gatorade’s 12 formulas to put in the bottle, based on the user’s sweat type. The high-tech bottles will be customizable with names, team logos, numbers, and LED lights. (Digiday)
