Microfame has a new star. Meet Daniel, the California high school kid who has gone viral thanks to a short video montage of his outfits and shoes, paired with a voiceover of a friend repeating “DAMN Daniel!” Since being posted on February 15th, the clip has been viewed more than quarter of a million times, and has inspired a rap song. Young consumers are growing up in an age where fame is something that can happen TO you, at any time. One sociologist explains, “The Internet is more and more like your local high school where inexplicably the crowd picks something that is not that interesting and elevates it to popularity status.” (The Inquisitr)
