MTV’s most expensive scripted show to date is “‘LOTR’ meets Katniss Everdeen, for Millennials.” Shannara Chronicles, a post-apocalyptic story inspired by the prolific original fantasy literature series, has a “Game of Thrones Jr. vibe,” and a “tween-friendly cast.” The show aims to hook in Millennial viewers with its message of girl power in a patriarchal society, and, of course, plenty of teen angst and “rock hard abs” as well.
